Teachers

All of our after-school instructors are dedicated teachers with something meaningful to share with our children. They embody the Woods' Mission, which is to empower students to achieve their full potential in academics and in all areas of their lives.

Kevin Mahoney

Every Chess Master was once a beginner.

Chess is a magnificent game that teaches many skills such as patience, discipline, logic, and planning. My dad taught me how to play chess at a very young age and I have kept that tradition alive by teaching my twin girls. Now, I would like to bring the joy and the challenge of this game to Woods Charter.

We work with 4 other schools in the Triangle and also have programs running at Carrboro Parks and Recreation. I have a lifelong long for Dungeons and Dragons and have been playing and DMing around 10 years.
