In this fun after-school program, students will use and play Minecraft Edu to complete weekly build challenges, both individually and in groups. Students will learn programming and coding, planning, asset management and critical thinking skills all while playing Minecraft! Weekly challenges include building comic books within Minecraft, creating and inventing vehicles, designing spacecrafts, exploring architecture and community landmarks, pixel self-portraits, building a treehouse, designing a rollercoaster... and so many more!
Minecraft: Education Edition is a version of Minecraft specifically designed for use in educational contexts to promote creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment. Additions to the original game include a library of lessons and activities that address curricular standards in all areas of STEAM (Steam, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).
Devices will be provided for use in the after-school class.
Students do not need to purchase Minecraft as Minecraft Edu accounts will be provided.
Minecraft appeals to all ages, so this club is open to students in grades K-6.
Minecraft: Education Edition prepares students for the future, building future-ready skills like creativity, problem-solving, and systems thinking and nurturing a passion for play!
